How it works

Three choices. Yours, not ours.

Nothing here is off the shelf. Come in, sit down, and build the stool to your kitchen.

Choose the frame & finish

Metal or wood, in finishes from matte black and brushed steel to walnut and oak. Swivel, stationary or adjustable height.

Choose the fabric or leather

Hundreds of upholstery options — fabric, genuine leather or easy-clean vinyl. Samples are in the showroom so you see them in real light.

Choose the height

Counter height, bar height, or a custom seat height measured to your island. Bring your counter measurement and we'll get it exact.

The lines we carry

Built by makers who actually build to order

Amisco

Made to order in Canada. Dozens of frame profiles, a deep finish range, and upholstery you choose yourself.

Johnston Casuals

Custom metal and upholstered seating. Multiple metal finishes paired with your choice of fabric or vinyl.

Canadel

Solid wood dining and stools, made to order. Match your stools to a Canadel table and get the whole room in one finish.

What we specialise in

The most-used seat in the house, and the one people think least about.

We're not a furniture store that happens to stock a few stools. Custom bar and counter stools are what we do — and after thirty years of it, we'll tell you plainly: the counter stool is the most-sat-on seat you own. Breakfast, homework, dinner prep, the glass of wine while someone cooks. It logs more hours than your dining chairs and often more than your sofa.

It's also the piece people budget last and buy cheapest. Then replace in three years.

The bargain stool online

Great photo. Flat box.

  • Arrives fully unassembled — you build it yourself with an Allen key
  • The frame is bolted together, not welded
  • Every time someone sits down, those bolted joints work a little looser
  • The wobble starts within months and can't be tightened away for good
  • You're shopping for stools again in two or three years
What we sell

Welded 16-gauge steel.

  • The metal frame is welded — one piece, with no joints to work loose
  • 16-gauge steel, not the thin tube that makes a stool feel hollow
  • Nothing to assemble and nothing to re-tighten later
  • No wobble, because there's nothing in the frame that can move
  • You sit on the actual stool before you buy it

The swivel and the footrest

Mechanisms built for daily use versus occasional use are different parts at different prices. The footrest is the first thing to wear through, and it's the one you'll notice.

The foam and the upholstery

Foam density is why a seat still supports you after five years instead of flattening in one. It costs more, it weighs more, and you can feel the difference the moment you sit down.

Made to your kitchen

Frame finish, fabric or leather, and a seat height measured to your counter — so it fits the room you have rather than the average one a catalogue assumed.

A good stool isn't cheap. But spread across the years you'll actually use it — comfortably, without wobble, in a fabric that still looks right — it's usually the better buy. We'd rather say that honestly up front than have you find out the other way.

Why come in

A stool is a thing you sit on. Photos can't tell you much.

Sit on it first

Seat depth, back angle, footrest position and cushion firmness are the difference between a stool you use and one you regret.

See the fabric in real light

Screens lie about colour. Hold the sample against a photo of your counter and you'll know in ten seconds.

Get the height right

The most common mistake we fix. Bring your counter height and we'll match the seat so there's proper clearance.

Before you come in

Straight answers

How long does a custom stool take?

It depends on the maker and the fabric you choose. Tell us the model you like and we'll give you an exact date before you order — no vague estimates. Some floor models and quick-ship options are available much sooner.

What do custom stools cost?

A custom stool costs more than a flat-packed one, and usually less than people expect. Price comes down to the frame, the fabric and the height. Tell us your budget when you come in and we'll show you honestly what works within it — we'd rather do that than have you fall for something out of range. We also offer a 100% price match guarantee.

Can I order online?

Custom stools are chosen in person — you need to sit on the frame and see the fabric. Come to the showroom or call and we'll walk you through the options.

Do you sell to restaurants or bars?

Our stools are made for homes, not commercial or contract use. We don't take restaurant, bar or hospitality orders.

What height do I need?

Counter height stools suit counters around 35–36″; bar height suits 41–43″. Measure from the floor to the top of your counter and bring the number — we'll match the seat height so you get proper leg clearance.

Do you deliver?

Yes. White glove delivery includes in-home placement, full assembly and removal of all packaging materials.

Why are you closed on Sunday?

Bergen County's blue law prohibits Sunday furniture retail. Every furniture store in the county is closed. We're open Monday through Saturday, 10AM to 8PM.

Come sit on a few.

No appointment needed. Bring your counter height and a photo of your kitchen — we'll narrow 50+ models down to the three that work.
